Organisations encounter challenges daily - some routine, others persistent and complex. While many routine issues can be addressed through effective management, more complex problems often require engagement with research and development (R&D). Fully accredited doctoral studies at the Estonian Business School (EBS) offer a structured and methodological path to transform intellectual curiosity and problem-solving initiatives into a life-changing academic and professional journey.

Finnish architect Antti Nousjoki hopes that the Eedu Quarter rising in the heart of Tallinn will serve as a guidepost for the city’s future.

When it comes to contemporary architecture, one cannot overlook Antti Nousjoki, co-founder of ALA Architects, known for works like the exquisite Oodi Library in Helsinki and the Eedu education and entrepreneurship campus under development in Estonia. We spoke to him about architecture's role in 21st-century society, the meaning of creativity in buildings, and why Eedu is not just a high-rise but a vision of a new urban mindset.

The EBS alumni community has grown into a strong and inspiring network over the years. We've been thinking about how to maintain better connections with alumni and exchange information more effectively. After discussing various ideas with several alumni, we arrived at two new communication platforms for you: the new website at info.ebs.ee/alumni and the official LinkedIn group EBS Alumni Official. Both are created to strengthen our mutual communication and collaboration. We hope these channels will simplify information sharing, offer opportunities for involvement, and help everyone stay up to date with each other's activities and initiatives.

Investing is increasingly becoming a part of everyday life – nowadays, anyone can invest their spare money, even just a euro at a time. To provide EBS students with the opportunity to build financial literacy, deepen their knowledge, and gain practical experience in investing, we have established the EBS Investment Club.

"Uncertainty" has become a common term in business conversations, as developments ranging from artificial intelligence to global politics confront leaders with constant unknowns. Yet uncertainty is not a recent phenomenon -it has always been a fundamental element of strategic thinking. What makes a strategy strong is the ability to imagine multiple futures, tolerate inevitable risks, and accept the presence of the unknown.

As summer begins, our thoughts often start to wander – into dreams, travels, or simply the moment. Now is a perfect time to pause and reflect on the new paths life might open for us.

The EBS community is growing once again this summer – nearly 250 graduates will be joining our alumni family. Our network is more than just a list of names; it’s a living community that creates and shares knowledge, opportunities, and inspiration.

In this edition of the newsletter, we focus on dreams of various kinds. Some are still in the initiation phase, others are in the development stage, and some are nearing the finish line.
EBS Rector Meelis Kitsing emphasizes the importance of creativity in the journey of creating dreams, as on the road, one encounters uncertainties and risks. Creating dreams starts with creativity, and we could boldly embrace it right away. Promises to fulfil dreams often remain at a standstill if they lack inspiration behind them. The EBS Impact Fund is still a maturing idea that, with the strength of our community, can stimulate educational innovation or encourage knowledge-based private and public sector cooperation.

As we leave the festive season behind, it’s important to carry the Christmas spirit into 2025. The Christmas spirit symbolizes hope, renewal, and the promise of better times ahead. Let’s imagine new ways to improve our personal lives, make our work more meaningful, and pursue other inspiring endeavours. To achieve this, we need to embrace creativity—especially in a world facing tremendous risks and uncertainties.

At the beginning of the new year, it's fitting to talk about a new idea that we've been working on here at EBS for some time. Namely, the existence of the unified strong community of EBS has perhaps logically led us to the idea that together we can achieve more in society as well. This means gratitude for what we have and sharing with those who may have the idea but lack the means of implementation. We have created the EBS Mõjufond MTÜ, under which we aim to support three main areas related to EBS: educational innovation, collaboration between the private and public sectors, and new school infrastructure.

You are always welcome to return to EBS premises, for example, to organize your company events and seminars, use the co-working area, or why not hold a class reunion. Our doors are always open if you want to return to study.
